Access to the site is only permitted if you have:

COMPLETED THIS INDUCTION

  • Completion of this induction is mandatory for all event staff requiring access to the event during the build or de-rig.
  • You must read through this induction, fill out and submit the form at the end.

BRING ID

  • You must bring photo ID with you.

PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT (PPE)

  • You must wear PPE appropriate to your schedule of work and in any case you must have a minimum of hi-vis and suitable footwear in the production area. If in doubt please speak to one of the key contacts for the event before commencing work.
  • Minimum PPE required in construction areas:
    • Hi-Viz
    • Hard Hat (when overhead work is being carried out)
    • Suitable footwear.

APPROPRIATE ACCREDITATION

  • When you arrive on-site you will be provided with your accreditation before you start work.
  • It is absolutely vital to the safety and security of the event that you wear, and visibly display your accreditation AT ALL TIMES.
  • NOTE: If you have not completed and submitted this online safety induction you WILL NOT be issued with accreditation.

WHEN YOU ARRIVE

  • Access to the site is via St Nicholas Park, off the A425 and through the car park.

  • Limited crew parking is available; please see the site office for details.

  • When you arrive, please report to the site office to collect accreditation and meet the site team.

Section 3

Build and Break Safety

Site Rules

EVERYONE MUST:

  • Consider the safety of yourself and those around you at all times; How does what I’m doing affect others?
  • Be aware of moving vehicles and plant; Wear your hi-viz jacket and be aware of others working near you.
  • Use appropriate PPE and follow instructions.
  • Vehicle and plant drivers/operators must hold a relevant licence or permit for the vehicle/plant.
  • Do not speed, be aware of pedestrians and be prepared to STOP.
  • The speed limit is 5mph

  • All work at height must be planned and risk assessed, and a suitable rescue plan must be in place.

  • Hard hats must be worn in areas where work at height is taking place, or installations above head height have not been completed and signed off.
  • Minimum PPE Required in construction areas on Site:
    • Hi-Viz clothing (EN471)
    • Hard Hat (EN397) Where overhead work is being carried out.
    • Suitable footwear.
  • You must also wear any additional PPE that is required as part of your company’s Risk Assessments.
  • No hot works to be carried out without a permit to work being issued by the Health and Safety Manager.
  • No Smoking on-site, this includes the use of e-cigarettes and vapes except in the designated areas.

Manual Handling:

Don’t lift unless it’s essential;

  • Use mechanical aids where possible i.e. forklift truck
  • Use equipment trolleys/buggies where possible;
  • Anything over 25kg will require at least two people to lift. Remember to use good communication when team lifting.
  • Consider asking a colleague to walk ahead of you, checking the route is safe.
  • If in doubt do not lift, seek support or advice.

Electrical Safety:

Electrical equipment;

  • Only use power supplies installed or approved by the site power team.

  • Be considerate when running temporary cables – do not create a hazard.

  • Power tools should be battery-powered where possible.

  • All electrical equipment should be regularly inspected for serviceability.

Around the site:

Please

  • Ensure that all access and egress routes are free from obstruction and trip hazards at all times;
  • Do not block fire exits and routes at anytime;
  • Report any hazards you find immediately, do not leave it for someone else to discover…. the hard way.

PPE required on site

HI VIZ

  • During build and break, a Hi-Viz vest is to be worn at all times.
  • Compliant with EN ISO 20471

SUITABLE FOOTWEAR

  • Suitable safety footwear i.e boots should be worn. No open-toed footwear.
  • Compliant with EN ISO 20345 minimum

HARD HAT

  • A hard hat must be worn in areas where overhead work is being carried out.
  • Compliant with BS 397

WORK AT HEIGHT

  • If you are intending to work at height please make sure you wear a full-body harness with either a fall arrest or work restraint lanyard.
  • Make sure all work at height is risk assessed and you have had suitable training and a suitable rescue at height plan in place.

PROTECTION

  • Gloves, hearing protection, safety glasses, and dust masks should be worn if your work and risk assessment requires them.

Welfare facilities on site

CREW WELFARE

  • Crew welfare, toilets and catering is all located in the backstage compound.
  • Please treat these with respect and leave them as you find them.

First Aid

CONTRACTOR FIRST AIDER

  • Each contractor SHOULD have a designated first aider on-site and carry a suitable first aid kit.

MEDICS 

  • Medics are on duty during site working hours and are located in the production village.
  • Medical assistance can be requested through the Production or Site Offices.
  • Do not call 999 directly.
  • Inform the safety advisor or production manager so that a report can be completed.

ACCIDENT REPORTING

  • All accidents, incidents and near-misses must be reported as soon as possible to Production and the Health and Safety Team.

If You Discover a Fire:

RAISE THE ALARM

  • Warn those around you.
  • Ask a staff member, security staff or someone from production with a radio to call for assistance.
  • Make your work area safe and leave immediately by the nearest exit.

FIREFIGHTING EQUIPMENT (FFE)

  • If possible, and you have been trained to do so, attempt to fight the fire using suitable firefighting equipment ensuring you do not put your own life at risk.

EVACUATION MESSAGE

  • On hearing the fire alarm, or radio announcement please follow the instructions and
    leave via the nearest exit route.

ASSEMBLY POINT

  • Unless told otherwise, the assembly point will be located stage left of the backstage pad during the build and break. See plan below.

Travel

Travelling to and from Site

  • We encourage everyone on site to use public transport as a main travel method.
  • Walking and cycling where possible.
  • Car sharing is also highly encouraged.

Catering

Catering

  • Please consider the environment when making food choice options.
  • We are a no single-use plastic site. Water fountains are available throughout to use.
  • Please ensure you bring your own reusable water bottle.

Wastage

Wastage

  • General and mixed waste recycling bins are available throughout the site. Please refer to the signage for the correct wastage scheme.
  • Please consider how much waste you’re generating. E.g. Does this need to be printed?

Section 9

Alcohol and Drugs at Work

ZERO Tolerance

Whilst on-site there is a ZERO tolerance for being under the influence of alcohol or illegal drugs.

If you are suspected of being under the influence of either you will be removed from the site immediately and may face disciplinary action.

Be alert

SUSPECT ITEMS

  • If you discover a suspect package do not touch or move it.
  • Immediately contact a member of the Security Team.
  • Do not use your mobile phone or radio in the vicinity of the package.
  • Follow the directions of the Security Team and Staff to clear the area calmly if possible and follow the evacuation process used if the threat is confirmed.

SUSPICIOUS PEOPLE / ACTIVITY

  • If you see anyone acting suspiciously in or around the arena please contact the security or site management team.
  • Give them an accurate description of the person/s and what makes them look suspicious to you.
  • You will not be criticised for reporting anything suspicious – if in doubt please report it.

TERRORIST INCIDENT

  • In the event of an attack, it may be necessary to evacuate the aren, however, in some circumstances, it may be safer to remain inside. If an incident does occur think about your personal safety and listen to the radio and P.A system for any instructions.
    • Hide if you can’t run.
    • Find some cover.
    • Be aware of your escape routes and try not to become trapped.
    • If you can lock or barricade yourself in a room and move away from the door.
    • Be very quiet and turn off mobile phones and other devices that could make unexpected noise.
  • CALL 999 when it is safe to do so.
  • If the Police respond to the venue in these circumstances please be prepared for their actions to be robust, this could include you being treated as suspicious until you are cleared.
  • Always apply the RUN, HIDE, TELL guidance.

Please do not come to work if you have Covid-19 symptoms or have tested positive for Covid-19 in the past 5 days.

  • Please wash or sanitise your hands regularly, particularly before eating or drinking and when sharing workspaces or equipment.
  • In enclosed spaces open windows and doors where possible to improve fresh air flow into the workplace.
